Brian has been a volunteer with Heart of the Valley, SERVICES For Seniors, Inc. for a year, helping seniors with handyman projects for free. When the jobs are too big for our volunteer services, the seniors can hire him for bigger projects if they wish. We receive calls all the time from very satisfied seniors. They find him dependable and thoughtful and are very happy with his work.
Here is a letter we recently received from one of our clients, " You sent Brian to help with a small job I needed done. He came on time, did the job quickly, and did just exactly what I requested. He is a Licensed Contrator. I needed some serious repairs done in my home. He looked at the job and gave me a very fair estimate. I hired him. I thought he would be here working for two days. It took him 6 hours. He said he didn't want to leave the work half done and clutter the house up for two days. The repair is perfect. I have recommended him to the Manager of this Mobile Home Park." I hired Bow's Construction to install a large Milgard 4-panel sliding glass door. This type of patio door requires precise alignment to roll smoothly and lock easily.
Hiring Bow's was a costly mistake. The sliding panels were so far out of alignment that the door was difficult and sometimes nearly impossible to close or lock. Milgard sent a service tech who could only make things a little better because the door was installed poorly.
Why didn't the door work correctly? This contractor installed the unit to the existing house framing without checking plumb (vertical alignment) - which was hugely off. When later questioned, he stated that he had NEVER checked for plumb when installing patio doors.
I paid someone else to removed the door (without damaging it) and correctly reinstall it. The new installer found other issues with the original installation - including a gap in the house wrap underneath the surrounding stucco, which might have caused water damage to the house.
Bottom Line: Consider Bow's Construction only for repairs where precision is not required. I suggest looking elsewhere if you need work that requires expertise in residential construction framing.
That said, if you need repairs on a low-end rental unit, you might want to include Bow's among the parties you obtain bids from. (But, don't expect any followup or rework.)
I sold my home, but needed one final last minute repair. I called him on a Saturday, and he was there first thing Monday and got the job done. THANK YOU.
